This is a truly delicious red, made by top winemaker Andrea Bernardini, with prime Nero di Troia fruit sourced from the foothills of the Apennines, overlooking the Gargano peninsula in northern Puglia (the hot, sunny heel of Italy's boot). Pour to reveal a glass-stainingly deep colour. Bewitching aromas of blackberry, violet, smoky vanilla and oak swirl out of the glass, and on the palate, the texture is rich and smooth. It's a superb match to traditional pizza or pasta, so if you love Italian food, this is a must-have for your wine rack.
