Château Fontaine de l’Aubier is located in the heart of the Médoc, neighbouring some of the greatest classed growth châteaux, and perched on the famous gravel soils that suit Cabernet and Merlot grapes so well. Five generations of the Fauchey family have succeeded each other at the château, always with the same approach to the task of making wine, starting with the greatest care in the vineyards, weeding and pruning by hand to avoid soil erosion, and adding absolutely nothing in the winery. Such fastidiousness pays off in quality, and bring great reviews for the wine itself.
Pure Syrah is rarely found in the wines of the Languedoc Roussillon, it's usually reserved for the pricy reds of the northern Rhône. From the warm, ripe 2020 vintage and vineyards close to Corbières, this has dark, smoky black fruit and spice.
This is an exceptional vintage of Les Grands Maréchaux. Strict vineyard management under the advice of consultant winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt helps bring out this claret's rich mulberry, plum, cedar and incense character. Superb and affordable.
Meet Marselan, a newcomer grape making its mark in the vineyards of SW France, even Bordeaux. For now still rare, this red is packed full of fruit. A luscious waterfall of ripe berries, scorched earth, herbs and French oak. All velvety smooth too.
We’ve been championing the wines of Castillon for more than 40 years now. They can be just as good as Saint Emilion next door, and many critics and top winemakers agree. Wine writer Oz Clarke wrote “Top Castillons are already good enough to make many Saint Emilion proprietors blush”, while famous names such as Derenoncourt and Graf von Neipperg have bought estates there.
Le Roi Bœuf is an exclusive BIG red like no other. Along with local star winemaker Lionel Osmin, our Bordeaux buyer has crafted, what he calls "the ultimate steak wine". One sip of its decadent, richly spiced black fruit flavours and you'll agree.
