Our Sélection Excellence comes from prime vineyards on the slopes of Mancey, in the north of the Mâconnais, in southern Burgundy. Pinot Noir is a notoriously finicky grape, but the famous calcareous soils of this region make it an ideal home. And Mancey has the perfect climate too – just the right amount of ripening sunshine with a gentle breeze of freshness.
Sélection Excellence is a vivid, bright wine with a bouquet redolent of freshly picked cherries. There are silky tannins and ripe summer fruits, with subtle vanilla spices beautifully integrated by 12 months’ maturation in French oak barrels. This most approachable Burgundy makes a superb partner for grilled meats and cheeses – perfect for drinking now or cellaring a year or so.
"Classic Burgundian fruit at a very un-Burgundian price! This wine is a real charmer" Jehan Sacaze, Buyer for Burgundy
