Argentina may have helped put Malbec on the world stage, but “savvy wine lovers know Cahors to be the historic and spiritual home of Malbec, the grape’s epicenter of quality” (Wine Spectator). Malbec has been in Cahors since Roman times. And the success of Malbec in Argentina piqued a new generation of local winemakers in Cahors into action. In Cahors, they’ve been raising quality reds in chalky clay soils since Roman times. Today, the appellation is still renowned for its quality and now tannins have been tamed with this magnificent Malbec.

From a modern cellar close to Gaillac and Toulouse comes this serious, fruit-filled Cabernet. It has just the right balance of ripe black fruit and firm tannins to produce a wine with the juicy crunch to partner food. Authentic France at its best.
Bordeaux-born, Hervé Fabre took off in the 1990s to find a new source of fine wine. He discovered the wealth of old vine Malbec in Argentina and established the now-renowned Fabre Montmayou. In 2017, with his wife Diane, he decided to invest back in France, in Cahors, where fine Malbec originated. Indeed, wines from Cahors were once more prized than claret. He acquired a beautiful estate in Parnac – three properties in fact that took in the high limestone plateau, steep slopes and the valley.
