Pretty ripe fruit in this aromatic Savigny-Lès-Beaune from a ripe vintage and a 500-year-old domaine This bright, aromatic, pure-fruit Savigny-Lès-Beaune is from a 7th-generation family estate which has been based in this appellation since 1529. Today Jean-Jacques and his wife Agnès are in charge and have slowly built up their vineyards to 15 hectares, covering top sites from Corton in the north, to Volnay in the south. They are now joined by their sons Vincent and François and make an impressive range of small-batch wines from across Burgundy. Aged in French oak barrels for 15 months, this fine red is silky and poised. 2022 was a cracking vintage, so the flavours are ripe, bright and intense, with cherry and raspberry fruit and leafy peppery notes. Cellar or decant early. A fine match with feathered game or wild mushrooms.
