Collection Bellenum was set up by Nicolas Potel to give wine lovers the opportunity to access rare Burgundies from older vintages – from 1959-2006 – at affordable prices. The Monthélie 2006 is beautifully elegant with summer fruit and spice.

Maison Roche de Bellene Collection Bellenum is a unique project set up to offer exceptional mature Burgundies at affordable prices.

These rare-as-hen’s-teeth bottlings were sourced by the late, great Nicolas Potel, using his unparallelled little black book of contacts.

Nicolas grew up in Volnay, where his father ran the renowned Domaine de la Pousse d’Or, and seemed to know everyone in Burgundy. Thanks to this extensive network, he was able to access parcels of mature Burgundies from growers who had a tradition of holding back older vintages.

This was the foundation of his Collection Bellenum label. These wines have been kept in the original producer’s cellar for decades before being tasted and re-bottled by Nicolas – so you can be 100% confident of the impeccable quality.

The mature, summer fruit-tinged 2006 Monthélie is exclusive to us and offers extraordinary value for a Burgundy of this age. Monthélie is a small village next to Volnay and, like Volnay, the reds are known for their elegance and finesse. Drinking brilliantly now, this is textbook aged Pinot Noir.
