2023

From star winemaker Jaime Quendera, this voluptuous red is a luscious combination of native Aragonez, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown in the ocean-cooled, fast-draining soils of the Setúbal Peninsula. Rich black fruits brim from the glass. South of Lisbon on Portugal’s Atlantic coast, the Setúbal Peninsula is famous for its rolling Atlantic waves and its long-lived, fortified sweet wines. However, the sunny climate, tempered by cooling ocean breezes, is also proving itself with bold, fruit-forward reds. Parker-rated winemaker Jaime Quendera firmly believes in the region and is dedicated to bringing it to the world’s attention. He says “I love being able to create, blend and shape my wines – I strive always to produce the best wine possible.” Indeed, he was the man behind the ‘Best Red Wine in the World’ a few years back. This 2023 is a sumptuous blend of native Aragonez, Syrah and Cabernet, all harvested from old vines to produce a wine brimful with spiced black fruit.
