Cuvée Prestigieux 2022, Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOP, France
The most famous red of the southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape evokes refinement, complexity, richness and power. It’s the red that first seduced Robert Parker — he calls it a "hedonistic, intellectual treat" – and it continues to be sought after by connoisseurs and collectors today. Comprised of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault, Cuvée Préstigieux is a fabulous, rich red with velvety blackberry, spicy plum, wild herbs and black olive. It’s magnificent alongside roast lamb.
Averys Fine Red Burgundy 2022, Bourgogne AOC, France
Vincent Prunier is “a little-known yet superb producer” (Los Angeles Times). His domaine started with vines in Auxey-Duresses, but he's since added parcels in some of the Côte de Beaune’s foremost villages, including Chassagne-Montrachet. The grapes for this wine were hand-harvested and vinified traditionally, with ageing in oak barrels for between 12-18 months. It shows classic cherry aromas, with crunchy, juicy berry notes, soft tannins and light oak. Open early and ideally decant.

Classic, citrus-zipped, dry Chenin Blanc, from a true specialist and the Loire’s top Savennières appellation. This is fine wine territory for Chenin Blanc. It’s made by Philippe Socheleau (named 'Loire Winemaker of the Year' in 2022), who uses grapes from his finest vineyards, situated in two valleys. Aged on lees for six months, this is rich, rounded, yet intensely citrussy. It’s a superb dinner party wine.
