Ultima Edizione

This is winemaker Dennis Verdecchia’s ultimate creation – a dense, dark, velvety Italian red Ultima Edizione began a few years back as a special project from the Farnese cellar. Based in an ancient castle in Abruzzo, the cellar has a terrific reputation and has been named Italy’s ‘Winery of the Year’ three times. We've been working with them for many years and for this wine we gave them free rein to produce the best red possible, regardless of region. Talented winemaker today is Dennis Verdecchia, who cherry picked tiny parcels of premium soft, ripe Montepulciano and Sangiovese from Abruzzo, and dark Primitivo and spicy Negroamaro from sun-baked vineyards in Puglia in the south. Barrel ageing, then blending has produced this intensely flavoured, velvety red. Weighty, it’s best with roasted pork belly or a rich casserole.

Ultima Edizione Bianco
As the name suggests, this wine is the ultimate creation of a cellar that has won Top Italian Winery in 2016, ’17 and ’19. They’ve long delighted us with a rich, seductive Edizione red. This is the bright, citrusy and fragrant, high-altitude white.

Baronesa de Vilar Port Finish Reserva
Gorgeous, rich Portuguese red from 15th-generation winemaker Alvaro van Zeller. His family have been crafting fine ports since 1715 and now sumptuous dry reds, too. Using a trio of Douro grapes, aged in old port barrels, it’s brimful of spicy fruit.

Cabalie Origine
Cabalié is our most loved wine, but this is the ultimate - the Origine. This fabulous edition uses grapes taken from the two original, 100-year-old vineyards. The grapes are exceptionally concentrated and the wine velvety rich. No rush, open early.
