Savour 2 bottles each of:
Barolo DOCG “the wine of kings, the king of wines", comes from Piedmont and is made with the Nebbiolo grape. It’s renowned for its “depth and fascinating fragrance” (Hugh Johnson), its powerful, tannic palate, and its ability to age. The majestic Edizione Limitata Numerata 6 Barolo 2020 is a secret label wine from a very fine estate we are forbidden to name. But we can tell you that it uses grapes from the revered Cerviano-Merli region, and the same hillsides as the elite names, including the great $600-a-bottle Vajra. It’s from an "outstanding” vintage too.
Barbaresco DOCG is also a Nebbiolo from Piedmont. Generally not as tannic or powerful as Barolo, it offers the same deep aromatics, complexity and opulence. The lavishly expressive Il Poeta Barbaresco 2020 from poet vigneron Natale Seghesio and top Piedmont winemaker Paolo Sartirano comes from the celebrated Gaia Principe Cru and is rated 92 points by James Suckling: “Cherries and raspberries with hints of sandalwood, bark and licorice. Medium-bodied with firm, polished tannins...and a vivid, red-fruited finish.”
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Brunello is in fact 100% Sangiovese, grown in the Montalcino region in Tuscany and it’s one of Italy’s most famous (and most expensive) wines. The mighty Luciani Brunello di Montalcino 2020 is a lusciously intense Brunello from an historic estate dating back to the 1200s, boasting high points from James Suckling, Jeb Dunnuck and Antonio Galloni. Made with 100% organic fruit, aged for three years in large Slavonian oak barrels, it’s a joy now – but will reward patience in the cellar, too.
Add-on an awesome Amarone at 37% OFF!
Wine Enthusiast calls Amarone “one of the 15 icons in Italian wine”. So don’t miss your opportunity to try an icon today! La Tirela (named after the wires the vines are trained on) is made by Cantina Negrar – Italy’s 2016 ‘Winery of the Year’, top specialists of this style.
Amarone is made by the ancient tradition of drying grapes in the hot sun before fermentation, which gives it an amazing richness and a glorious combination of power and complexity. It’s intense – one sip will show you why this style is world famous. Add on a bottle for just $289 – 37% OFF!
