Lovers of fine Bordeaux, this sublime Margaux is pure magic in a bottle, and absolute must-try!
Lying close to Margaux's Châteaux Giscours and du Tertre, Château Cazauviel remains surprisingly under the radar. It was inherited by Régis Bernaleau from his father in 1978 and today remains in family hands.
It is situated on the prized gravel soils of the Arsac plateau, which lends both an intensity and a finesse to the wine. Early April frosts may have reduced yields, but as Decanter wrote, "there are some excellent wines." Most, like Cazauviel 2017, make delightful drinking now.
“Opulent, heady and modern in style with a sweet richness. Packed with black cherry and layers of silky tannins. Recommend decanting … 92pts” (International Wine Challenge Judging Panel).
The wine is a majority Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) elegantly balanced with a portion of the region’s plush Merlot (35%). Gentle notes of black cherry and cassis, earthy undergrowth and cedar. On the palate you have sweet, opulent red and black fruits, silky tannins, and well-integrated oak. Ideally open a couple of hours to decant before serving. It'll make a delicious glass with roast chicken with morels or a mushroom croustade (crust).
We anticipate it will sell out quickly, so don’t delay. Place your order for this sublime Margaux today.
