When a well-known estate called our buyer and asked if he wanted to secure a declassified parcel of excellent Chianti Classico, of course he said yes! This is a top tier winery in the heart of the prestige Conca d’Oro, where the wines command very high prices. We can’t tell you the name of the estate, but we CAN tell you that the winemaker is the renowned Franco Bernabei – the great ‘Mister Sangiovese’. And whilst it might only say Chianti on the label, the Classico quality is unmistakable: all juicy morello cherry, raspberry and black plum. It’s a limited edition, and it’s superb. Don’t miss it!

This decadently intense wine was made by Sofia Barbanera (famous for her extraordinary Tuscan wines) in collaboration with wine consultant Andrea Bernardini after they discovered an exceptional Primitivo vineyard in Puglia’s prized Manduria region. The fruit was so good that they didn’t want to blend it away, but the quantity was so tiny that they couldn’t create and market a new wine. Enter our Edizione Numerata label to save the day! Rated a whopping 98pts by Luca Maroni this is decadently, deeply, darkly complex with lush black fruit, sweet spice and creamy oak. A stunner.
