Founded in 1937, Jean-Pierre Moueix is one of Bordeaux’s most respected négociants, renowned for its role in distributing the great wines of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. Under Christian Moueix – once in charge of the legendary Château Pétrus, the most sought-after, most expensive Merlot in the world – the family name became synonymous with prestige.
The 2020 vintage in Bordeaux, with its long, warm summer, was certainly high quality. “Bordeaux has another terrific vintage on its hands with 2020” wrote Jeb Dunnock. “Outstanding quality level,” said Suckling. Jancis Robinson also rated it highly: “Tasting the 2020s was a real joy”. One taste of this lavish Bordeaux and you’ll see why! Heady with rich dark fruit and the classic minerality Bordeaux is loved for, you’ll find ripe vibrant plum, blackcurrant, liquorice and hints of clove on a beautifully balanced, layered and complex palate.
Now six years old, it offers an extra smooth and ultra-velvety finish. It’s one you definitely want for your cellar, and it will bring you great drinking joy for many years. Decant 30-60 minutes before serving to ensure all the layers have unfurled and then serve with your finest lamb roast.

Fourth-generation owners of Beau-Séjour Bécot imbue some of that revered 1er Grand Cru Classé finesse onto their Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion claret, Bernon Bécot. Mostly Merlot, with just a little Cabernet Franc, it’s a silky, elegant drop, overflowing with beautiful red fruits and spice on a long, creamy oak palate. James Suckling calls it “very pretty …nicely done” and Neal Martin says it is “Excellent”.
