The fruit comes from 50-year-old vineyards just below Volnay, giving the wine terrific intensity as well as some of the flavour and style of that top appellation. Winemaker today is Joseph’s son-in-law Jean-Pierre Charlot, assisted by his nephew Etienne Chaix. As expert Michel Bettane writes, “Jean-Pierre Charlot has vinified some of the finest and most balanced wines of Volnay and Pommard," while Wine Advocate said, "this address comes recommended."
