A sumptuous Gold-medal blend of three great grapes – Spicy, liquorice-scented Shiraz, cassis-laden Cabernet and dense Malbec create a wine with bags of appealing ripe fruit. Smooth enough to drink solo and great with spare ribs or veggie wraps. Open early.
The Waxed Bat Reserve 2022 Mendoza, Argentina
In the Reserve, Opi takes the quality of his legendary Waxed Bat to new heights. Cassis-scented Cabernet and spicy Malbec have been patiently barrel aged for a year to create a silky smooth, rounded wine that retains all the vibrant fruit intensity that makes regular Waxed Bat so popular, with gentle tannins and a long finish. It shows that Argentina’s Cabernet is on a par with its Malbec. Opi suggests serving with roast lamb, steak or spicy tomato pasta.
