Wine Details
From one of the southern Rhône’s top cru villages, this is a silky, elegant, ripe red from Sablet The southern Rhône’s nine cru villages deliver remarkable richness as well as value. One of the best is Sablet, a village in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, near Gigondas. Planted in the sandy soils of higher altitude vineyards, overlooking the Plan de Dieu, the hardy vines have to withstand a constant blast from the Mistral wind. The result is healthy vines and small, concentrated berries. This smooth red is from Laurent Guillot, whose family originated in Burgundy. He has, however, a great love for the wines of the south, so now makes wine there too. Père Guillot is a silky, elegant red with violet and wild herb aromas, silky black fruit and gentle spice. An ideal match with grilled meats or a herby casserole.
