L’Épiphanie de Saint-Émilion 2023
12 X

There are over 800 châteaux in Bordeaux’s storied Saint-Émilion appellation, but only a few command the extraordinarily high prices and luxury reputation akin to the First Growths of the Médoc. The wines from these estates sell for thousands of dollars per bottle (if you can secure any!) and top the wish lists of fine wine lovers around the world.

Imagine our excitement when we secured one of our biggest coups ever: an acclaimed Saint-Émilion from the same cellar and vineyards of one of those premier estates at an extraordinary price.

How is this possible? Only a limited amount of Grand Vin from these top estates is made each year. In the 2023 vintage, some surplus wine from one of these estates became available. As a native Bordelaise, our Bordeaux buyer Jean-Marc Sauboua has some friends in very high places, and he was able to secure this small parcel. However, as part of the deal, we can’t reveal where it comes from – which is why it is bottled under our secret l’Epiphanie label, reserved for the very finest ‘secret’ wines.

Whilst we can’t name the world-renowned château that made this wine, we can say that if you bought a bottle of their first wine, you wouldn’t get much change from $5,000. It really is a top name in Saint-Émilion and still family owned.

To be clear, this is not the Grand Vin. But it’s made with the same grapes, from the same vineyards, and with the same no expense spared attention to detail. Impressive? Most definitely! Exciting? Absolutely. As Robert Parker says, the pleasures of pouring something from a famous château “have a grip and allure that are hard to resist”. One taste and you’ll agree.

Jean-Marc is thrilled by this incredible coup, and of course, so are we! If you love fine Bordeaux, you should be excited too. This is a rare opportunity to secure a 12 or 6-bottle case of sublime Saint-Émilion from a great estate at a truly exceptional price. Don’t miss it!
