Founded in 1824 and nestled between Margaux and Saint-Julien in the Haut-Médoc’s gravel-rich commune of Lamarque, Château Malescasse has long held its place in Bordeaux’s winemaking heritage. Legend suggests it narrowly missed the 1855 Classification only because a broker drank all the samples before they could be judged!
Today, it’s one of just 14 estates awarded the elite Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel status. Laden with black fruit and layers of violet and chocolate on a powerful, full-bodied palate, the 2016 has 91 points from Wine Spectator, 92 points from James Suckling, 92 points from Jeb Dunnuck, and 93 points from Decanter. A wine of pedigree, precision, and rarity.
