Low Stock République Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

République Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Item Code: 4231520

Description

As savvy Cabernet fans have discovered, Paso Robles is “one of the most dynamic wine regions in California” (Wine Spectator). A haven of innovation, it produces some seductively, powerful reds – this République Cabernet is a prime example!

The Miller Family have farmed wine grapes in Paso Robles for generations. Experts in the land, they understood that the warm days, cool nights and shale soils created the ideal growing conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. They teamed up with talented winemaker John Crandell who transforms these juicy grapes in this aromatic, smooth wine. A superb expression of California’s central coast. Heady aromas of blackcurrant, plum and tobacco leaf with toasty spice hints. This Cabernet showcases Paso Robles’s classic, intense character and fresh zip. It’s already drinking deliciously and will gain further complexity with a few years in the cellar. Fantastic with braised short ribs, or vegetarian chilli, and is also smooth enough to enjoy on its own.

Low Stock Santa Inés Single Parcel Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Santa Inés Single Parcel Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Item Code: 4260520

Description

Chile's Maipo Valley boasts a warm Mediterranean climate, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon of great elegance and richness. From the award-winning De Martino winery, this is a sumptuous red with lavish cassis-fruit and layers of mint and spice.

From the 4th-generation De Martino family, Italians who left their homeland for South America in 1934, this is a luscious, ripe red. Their wines always show a great sense of "place, purity and balance". Twice named 'Chilean Winery of the Year', they specialise in sustainable practices in the vineyard and carefully match each grape to its optimum region. Cabernet Sauvignon excels in Chile’s Maipo region which has a mild Mediterranean climate and alluvial soils producing elegant wines with great structure. Sant Inés is a brooding red made from a carefully selected parcel, hand harvested, traditionally fermented, then aged in French oak barrels for a year. Silky smooth, it’s packed with intensely ripe, minty black fruits. A classic with steak.

Low Stock Tahbilk Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Tahbilk Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Item Code: 3614018

Description

Tahbilk is not only the oldest family-owned wine estate in Victoria (1862), it's also carbon neutral and has a stellar reputation for quality. This cool-climate Cabernet is "terrific value" (Halliday). A leafy, ripe, spicy plum Cabernet that'll age.

In 1920, wine lover Reg Purbrick was offered a glass of brandy from Château Tahbilk. Five years later, he purchased the property unseen! Reg's son Eric inherited his father's love of wine and, during the Great Depression, he gave up a law degree to decamp to Oz and take up the reins at Tahbilk. Three generations later, Hayley Purbrick is in charge of sustainability, while her father, Alistair, runs the estate. They are just one of eight wineries worldwide to be classified carbon neutral. Their 160 hectares of regenerated wetland and native vegetation are beneficial to the climate, as well as offering trails for all to enjoy. This fine, barrel-aged Cabernet is from cool Nagambie Lakes – dark spicy berry fruit with a leafy edge. Decant early.

Low Stock William Knuttel Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

William Knuttel Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Item Code: 4169719

Description

Over 30 years’ experience are captured in this velvety rich Sonoma Cabernet. From the premium hills of Alexander Valley, it’s a luscious wine imbued with spice, earthy notes and gorgeous ripe black fruit. A exceptional red from this star winemaker.

The name William Knuttel resounds in California wine circles. In the 1980s, Knuttel was key to establishing Saintsbury as a leader of fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and later helped build a great reputation for Chalk Hill and Dry Creek wineries too. In 2001, he founded his own estate and today is joined by his dancer daughter Kate and cellist son, Sebastian. This full-bodied, velvety red is from Alexander Valley, one of the key winegrowing regions of California’s Sonoma County. Its warm climate is ideal for growing gorgeously ripe and vibrant Cabernet. Using handpicked grapes, native yeasts and ageing in French oak barrels has produced an intense plum and cherry red, with earthy spice. Open early and decant or cellar. Great with red meats.
