Stéphane Ogier is one of the most exceptional northern Rhône winemakers, producing "a bevy of brilliant wines” said Wine Advocate. This luscious blend of the region's white grapes is labelled Côtes du Rhône, but tastes way richer and finer than that.

Wine Spectator described Stéphane Ogier’s wines as “dynamic and elite”, while Wine Advocate wrote “the estate is unquestionably in the top handful of domaines in the Rhône Valley”. The family were apricot growers, then fortuitously changed to grapes. Such was the quality that, until 1982, they sold all the fruit to top estates Guigal and Chapoutier. Stéphane gained experience in Beaune and Stellenbosch before taking over from his father in 2003, adding extensively to the vineyards (in Côte Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph) and building himself a gleaming, modern cellar. His brilliant Côtes du Rhône white is a delicious and intriguing blend of native Rhône grapes Grenache, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier and others, superbly balanced and long.

Wine Advocate described a previous vintage of this fragrant, mineral-laced white as “a dead ringer for fine Condrieu”. Apart from its much kinder price. From vineyards close by and a terrific winemaker, this is a very fine, exotically spiced white.

Stéphane took over from his father in the late 1990s, added extensively to the vineyards (he owns 10 hectares in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph) and built himself a gleaming, modern cellar. Terroir is his raison d’être. Grapes for Viognier de Rosine come from elevated, granite-soil vineyards bordering Côte-Rôtie, just north of Condrieu. Their terroir lends the wine its wonderful mineral elegance which balances the floral peach notes. Fermentation and lees ageing in oak for two thirds of the wine brings a creamy plumpness, matched by the bright fruit.

They say it takes a village, but here it just takes seven. Thanks to Jean Paul, Flo, Gilles, Greg, Alain, Bernard and Sebastian, their village cellar has retained its proud independence. Reap the rewards in their creamy, rounded Rhône Blanc.



The magnificent seven behind this white are led by Jean Paul Coste, winemaker and grandson of the village cellar’s founder. Light on numbers and overshadowed by near neighbour Châteauneuf du Pape, Jean Paul could have sold out to the big boys. But that would mean the end of the village wine. Instead, our heroes decided to stand and fight – making the cellar a really personal project. They produce Rhône wines with just as much character too.

Their Gold-medal red was a hit with customers when it launched. Now we’re excited to share their Blanc. It’s another gem. Citrus, apricot, peach and wild flower notes mingle with a honeyed lovely intensity and mineral depth – rich, but still fresh and dry. Serve with grilled fish for a perfect match.
