This exquisite Sancerre is from the Laporte small family domaine in Chavignol, long regarded as one of the appellation’s top crus. Crafted from carefully selected parcels of estate-grown Sauvignon, the wine has superb balance, complexity and depth.

This classic Sancerre reflects the chalk and limestone soils known as ‘caillottes’ for which the village of Chavignol is famous. It’s a riveting wine with a great medal-winning history and comes courtesy of Serge and Elisabeth Laporte. Their 10-hectare domaine has been in the family for generations and looks set to remain so for at least one more – they’ve now been joined by their son Guillaume. He spent three years studying oenology at the university in Tours, and his input has further upped the quality of an already excellent estate. Premium Sauvignon, this wine has incredible mineral richness and pristine citrus and herbaceous flavours. A most elegant aperitif, it also goes very well with warm goat’s cheese salad or seafood of all kinds.

This is a refreshingly elegant white from the Holdaway estate in Marlborough. The family started the farm in 1854, buying up land in Wairau and Dillons Point, now two key areas for vines. Their previous vintage was described by Sam Kim in the Wine Orbit as "impressively aromatic" with "excellent concentration, together with terrific fruit purity and vibrancy." And quality in 2021 was even better, so look forward to great tangy-fresh glass. Tasty solo, with seafood, noodles or creamy risotto.

One parcel is from the granite-rich soils of beautiful Franschhoek, the other from the high-altitude mountain slopes of Darling. Both parcels bring an incisive mineral crispness to this dazzling white. Harvesting by hand at dawn and cool fermentation have resulted in this fine, gooseberry fresh white, with creamy weight from lees ageing. Presented in its unique square-shaped bottle, it's a smart dinner party white - great with grilled prawns, salmon or risotto.

Introducting Triplex – a Sauvignon born of 3 different winemaking techniques and inspired by the finest Fumé Blancs. It's a head-to-head challenge with Bordeaux – who'd make the best? You must taste and decide. A creamy, complex, well-zipped white.

This is a terrific new white from maverick cellar in the Barossa, RedHeads. They like to do it differently and challenge the norm. Head is Alex Trescowthick. He wanted to make an oaked Sauvignon - a Fumé Blanc – to knock socks off the best. And he challenged Bordeaux to do the same. He sourced pristine Sauvignon grapes from a grower-mate in the cooler climate Adelaide Hills and split them three ways. One portion was fermented in concrete eggs, to lend structure and roundness; another went into French oak vat for aromatics and subtle spice; the third into demi-muid barrels for four days of fermentation on skins (unusual), for creamy complexity, all fermented with wild yeasts. That makes it even richer. A superb white with sauced white meats.
