Since their wines first appeared in 2004, Château Vartely has established itself as one of Moldova’s top wineries. The winery controls 300 hectares of vines grown in conditions and soils very similar to the best of Bordeaux. Glowing online reviews every vintage prove that UK wine lovers have given this estate a big thumbs up. From grape harvesting to bottling, every step takes place under the watchful eye of Arcadie Fosnea, ‘Moldovan Winemaker of the Year’ in 2014. Having studied winemaking at Weinsberg, Germany, he has drawn worldwide acclaim for his skill at producing impressive wines.
Like this brilliantly fresh blend of native Feteasca Regala and crisp, grassy Sauvignon. Serve chilled on its own, with goat's cheese bake or with fish.

5th May is International Sauvignon Blanc Day – not that you need an excuse to drink this dazzling, lipsmacking, fruit-filled, zesty, mouthwatering white. Any day is Sauvignon Blanc Day!
Though you might like to open something special on the day – and that’s where we come in. We have a superb range of international Sauvignon Blancs, and we are thrilled to bring a dozen of them to you (all shimmering with Gold!) at an amazing price.
We start in the old world, with fine French Sauvignon Blanc in the sublime Les Secrets d’Abbesse 2022 from the Loire, and the lovely La Belle Saison 2022 from the sun-blessed south, both wonderfully elegant and minerally. Then, savour some truly exciting new world examples bursting with vibrant fruit and irresistible aromatics.
First up is the lip-smacking Excelsior Little Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2024 from South Africa’s Breede River Valley and the De Wet family, deliciously grassy and zingy. The stunning Alta Tierra Gran Reserva 2023 is a prestige Chilean star from high up in the Elqui Valley, piercingly fresh and sunshine bright. There’s also the lovely Hayrick Sauvignon Blanc 2022 from California, full of bright orchard fruit, plus wonderful hay-like nuances. Last is NZ’s bestselling Marlborough favourite – the fabulous Sunday Bay 2023, with exuberant grapefruit flavours, a grassy nettle character, and bright citrus zip.
Another bestselling favourite, it comes from the award-winning Siefried Estate in sunny Nelson (not far from Marlborough) and absolutely dazzles with bright, juicy tropical flavours of passionfruit and melon, on a long, lip-smacking finish. Worth $199 a bottle, it’s yours FREE!
Yes, Burgundy makes Sauvignon Blanc! Saint Bris is a tiny appellation next door to Chablis, and it’s permitted to use Sauvignon Blanc in its wines. Not only is this wine absolutely delicious, but it’s also a bit of a rarity. Wonderfully fresh, pure and intense, with lots of citrus character, it’s a stunning Sauvignon you must try. So we were delighted when we finally secured access to some nearby white vineyards with incredible fruit that has allowed us to create the prestigious La Clarière Blanc. This dazzling white Bordeaux combines bright, character-filled Sauvignon Blanc and richer, creamier Sauvignon Gris to create an extraordinarily sensuous wine. It has enjoyed all the same lavish, no-expense-spared treatment in the winery usually accorded to the red, and the result is a citrussy, complex, textured wine that is absolutely irresistible. Oak fermented, lees stirred, and then aged in partnew oak barrels, the richness and complexity is reminiscent of the grand wines of Pessac Léognan. Smooth, rich, long and lavish … it's simply magnificent – a very worthy partner to the red. It's a truly fine dining partner that really shines when served with luxury cuisine.
Tony Laithwaite has long wanted to make an estate white at La Clarière, but traditionally Castillon is all about reds. Now he's crafted this oak fermented white. Long, complex and citrusy, it's won four Golds.
