Low Stock Stéphane Ogier Le Temps Est Venu Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2022

Stéphane Ogier Le Temps Est Venu Côtes du Rhône Blanc 2022

Item Code: 4067322

Description

Stéphane Ogier is one of the most exceptional northern Rhône winemakers, producing "a bevy of brilliant wines” said Wine Advocate. This luscious blend of the region's white grapes is labelled Côtes du Rhône, but tastes way richer and finer than that.

Wine Spectator described Stéphane Ogier’s wines as “dynamic and elite”, while Wine Advocate wrote “the estate is unquestionably in the top handful of domaines in the Rhône Valley”. The family were apricot growers, then fortuitously changed to grapes. Such was the quality that, until 1982, they sold all the fruit to top estates Guigal and Chapoutier. Stéphane gained experience in Beaune and Stellenbosch before taking over from his father in 2003, adding extensively to the vineyards (in Côte Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph) and building himself a gleaming, modern cellar. His brilliant Côtes du Rhône white is a delicious and intriguing blend of native Rhône grapes Grenache, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier and others, superbly balanced and long.

Sunday Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Item Code: 0559123

Description

From the New World capital of Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand’s Marlborough. This is a brilliantly fresh, tropical fruit white. Enjoy its grassy aromas and exuberant fruit.

Sunday Bay is a phenomenon. Kiwi Sauvignon is by far our most popular style, and our range is full of standout examples. So it’s a huge statement that Sunday Bay, year after year, is the one our customers rate highest and re-order most. It's made by an award-winning family winery, who were some of the first pioneers of the Marlborough region. Phil and Chris Rose founded the estate back in 1978, now their five children have joined them, so it's very much a family affair.

Their Sunday Bay is a classic Sauvignon. Exuberant grapefruit and grassy nettle character with a bright citrus zip; all the usual Marlborough pizzazz and more. It’s very moreish solo or makes the perfect partner to all sorts of seafood, spicy stir-fry or Thai fish cakes.

SVB Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Item Code: 4229621

Description

A lively white from a beautiful, energetic state. This Sauvignon Blanc captures California’s vibrant, sunny way of life. Brimming with vivacious tropical and citrus fruits, with a streak of refreshing acidity. A delicious sunshine-sipper.

From the USA’s Golden State comes this gem of a white – an aromatic, tongue-tingling Sauvignon Blanc. It’s the perfect choice if you are looking for a slice of Californian sunshine. We can’t reveal the talented producer behind this label, but safe to say it’s from a quality-conscious, family winery, now in their third generation. With decades of experience, they pride themselves on the high quality of their wines (which usually sell for much more!). When some surplus stock was discovered, we jumped at the chance to share it with you for a great price. Generous tropical flavours of passionfruit and melon, with subtle herbaceous and citrus layers. Dazzling on its own, or a great food wine with roasted vegetable quiche or chicken salad.

The Boar Riesling 2020

Item Code: 3879420

Description

Temperatures have risen a little over the decades in Germany's top vineyards. The upside is that its dry whites have never tasted better, especially when they are from Weingut Leitz. This is a delightfully crisp, lemon and lime scented dry Riesling.

Weingut Josef Leitz is located in Rüdesheim, at the western end of the Rheingau. As the German Wine Guide notes, “Few in the Rheingau make finer wines than Leitz.” This family estate is run by Johannes Leitz, who took over what was then a 2.6 hectare property in 1985, aged just 21, and grew it to 43 hectares. It was the Rheingau that “established Germany’s reputation for world class white wines” (Hugh Johnson) and The Boar bears this out. Ironically its named after the wild boar that are far too fond of guzzling the grapes that ripen so perfectly on the south facing slopes of the vineyard. Chill down and enjoy this zesty, poised, citrusy white on its own, or with gentle dishes of grilled fish, other seafood, tangy noodles or tasty salads.
