So the name is a tribute to how the team source their fruit – they head out into the vineyards to taste the grapes of their grower friends. When they find the selections they like, they vinify each parcel separately, then blend the results into fruit first expressions of the varieties they chose. That blend changes vintage by vintage, depending on what performs well that year. It's top for versatility too – great as a glass on its own, tasty with roasted vegetable quiche, sausage and mash. And just the ticket at a barbecue.

There’s no end to the talents of Chief Winemaker Jo Nash who has a long list of accolades to her name and crafts this excellent rosé too. It’s dominated by Shiraz, with supporting roles from Sangiovese and Petit Verdot – all carefully selected from Central Victoria.
The juice is quickly run off the grape skins to obtain a good kick of pink, then cool fermented for the perfect balance of freshness and fruit-filled flavour. This irresistible black beauty is made from fabulously intense Shiraz and Grenache grapes grown on the craggy hillsides of France’s deep south – the Languedoc-Roussillon. Look up from the vines and you will see ruins of castles perching precariously on rocky peaks. This inhospitable landscape and these ancient strongholds were home to medieval Cathars who lived in awe of the evil god Rex Mundi (‘King of the World’).

Opi Sadler is behind many of our most popular Argentine reds. And for good reason - he is a magician of a winemaker. He learnt his skills from an early age in the dark cellars of his grandfather. His family had always made wine and Opi took a healthy interest. That was despite being a little spooked by the sleeping bats that always seemed to come to life as he crept down to the cellar with his candle. He remembers vividly how they'd knock into the it and leave wax prints all over his grandfather’s cellar, hence the name of this wine.
Spicy, liquorice-scented Shiraz, cassis-laden Cabernet and dense Malbec create a wine with bags of appealing ripe fruit. Smooth enough to drink solo and great with spare ribs or veggie wraps. Open early.
