Low Stock Morillon Blanc Jeff Carrel 2022

Morillon Blanc Jeff Carrel 2022

Item Code: 0908822

Description

Another triumph from the award-winning Jeff Carrel in southern France. Pure Chardonnay, it'll entice you with its lavish creaminess, intense apple and peach notes and core of freshness. A superb Chardonnay that’s also outstanding value.

Jeff Carrel describes himself as an eclectic winemaker. He’s part of a new generation of winemakers, operating without a vineyard or a winery. Instead, he sources small parcels of grapes from growers, rents a corner of a cellar and focuses on making brilliant wines. Currently, Jeff makes around 40 wines this way, including Morillon (the southern French term for Chardonnay).

Following malolactic fermentation in barrel and the addition of grapes with a hint of noble rot, the 2022 vintage has, once again, produced a rich, Burgundy-style white. It delivers on creamy intensity, ripe peach fruit and layers of buttery complexity. Ideally serve this big-statement white with cured ham, guinea fowl and wild mushrooms or creamy fish pie. Serve cool.

Low Stock Spier Villa Blue Albariño Stellenbosch 2023

Spier Villa Blue Albariño Stellenbosch 2023

Item Code: 4313323

Description

It's a Spanish hero and has recently soared to stardom. Villa Blue shows how well it performs in the Cape's Stellenbosch, in the hands of the great Spier cellar.

Albariño used to be a little-known grape of NW Spain. Recently it has shot to stardom, adored for its Sauvignon-like freshness with extra richness. Little was grown outside Galicia - until recently that is. Now, look, even South Africa has taken it to their hearts. This is a fresh, summery white from the great Spier Estate in premium Stellenbosch, winner of 'South African Wine Producer of the Year' in 2011 and 2018, also Editor's Choice 'Winery of the Year 2022' awarded by Platter. They're one of the Cape's oldest wineries, proud of the many community projects they run, under the banner 'Growing for Good', for which they've won a top Ethical award this year. Albariño is a new venture for them and this white is a terrific introduction.

Low Stock w/o Organic Lucido 2022

w/o Organic Lucido 2022

Item Code: 4196722

Description

Presenting w/o - winemaker Dino Taschetta's ambitious project. A wine made without (w/o) compromise. A delicious bright, peachy white, mindfully made. Packaged in 100% recycled glass, it’s aromatic with ripe stone fruits, pear and herbal notes.

We first met Dino when he began restoring his grandfather's earthquake-struck vineyard, high in the Sicilian hills. You loved the wine it made - Tenuta Fenice. Not one to sit back, he's started another ambitious new project called w/o - wine made without compromise. He first made a Frappato red, then a crisp rosato and now this rare white. It's made from Lucido (the best clone of the Catarratto grape), all grown organically thanks to Sicily's warm, dry climate and Dino's diligence. It's bottled in 100% recycled glass too, known as 'wild' glass, a UK first. You may notice a little variation in colour, perhaps a few tiny bubbles. All part of the charm, as is the wine's herbal-scented peach fruit. Chill and sip with seafood and lighter dishes.
