Big Red El Bombero has been a top choice with customers for over 20 years. And in special vintages, winemaker Javier Domeque crafts a sophisticated Gran Reserva version using the pick of the crop from his oldest vines. To qualify for Gran Reserva status, the wine is aged in oak for three years with further time in bottle prior to release. It’s made mostly from Garnacha, an important component of many full-bodied Spanish reds (and also of Châteauneuf-du-Pape), with a generous portion of juicy Tempranillo for added flavour. It's a touch more refined than El Bombero itself, but still full of rich berry flavour and with delicious spicy complexity from American oak. Drinking perfectly right now with roast lamb, game or a selection of tapas.

El Bombero red regularly sits in our customer’s Top 10, so we are excited to present its new sibling - a vibrant, fruity rosado. It comes from Cariñena, a hot, arid region of Spain where sun-loving grapes like Garnacha thrive. Along with big reds, the region produces bright, bold pinks. With just a few hours of contact between the grape juice and skins, the rosés catch the bright berry notes and a light hue.
El Bombero rosado is a wonderful example of a new wave of Garnacha rosés. It lies between Spain’s traditional fruity, medium-bodied rosés and the pale, light-bodied Provençal style. Showing great fruit finesse, it’s ideal to sip on its own, while its roundness makes it a great food wine as well – especially with a tasty paella.

This bright, fresh white is named after the Elephant Tree you see on the label. Adored by these great beasts for munching on, it is also cherished for its amazing ability to soak up carbon! Not even fast-growing bamboo can match it.
The wine was made by the talented Leon Esterhuizen at the sustainable, community-minded Journey's End winery. It was awarded 'Drinks Business Ethical Company of the Year 2021' and also in that same year, the 'Water Management Award' for the second time. It's owned by the Gabb family, instrumental in putting South Africa’s wine on millions of dinner tables around the world during the past 30 years. Chill down well, this white makes mouthwatering refreshment on its own, or with salads or lightly spiced dishes.

Germany is home to some of the world’s most famous, finest Rieslings: “No other wine can offer in a single sip as much finesse, purity of fruit, intensity of flavour and thrilling acidity ...” (Tom Stevenson Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopedia).
Our customers have been thirsty for top-class, gently sweet Riesling for some time, so we are thrilled to bring you this stunning Mosel!
This beautiful F.W. Nalbach Sonnenschein Riesling 2018 hails from Mülheimer, a top village of the Mosel and the prestigious 17th century Richter estate (they supply the royal cellars at Buckingham Palace!). Hugh Johnson calls the Richter estate “an extremely consistent producer of classic Mosel Rieslings”. Its steep slate vineyards produce fine Riesling with lively minerality and laser precision fruit … this is something very special!
While in the wine name, ‘Sonnen’ means sunshine and there’s plenty of that, but don’t expect high alcohol. The terroir gives a wine that’s dazzlingly bright and light on its feet – this 2018 is a taut high-wire act of beautiful, late ripened fruit and lipsmacking, cleansing acidity. It’s a treat with dim sum, and a magic match to whole fish dishes. If you love very fresh whites with a touch of sweetness you will LOVE this. Don’t miss it!

The Orange style is a real hipster wine of today. It's a white wine, made like a red - fermented on its skins. There's minimal intervention too, so the wines have lots of interesting funky flavours, balanced here by classic freshness. A tasty drop.
