Presenting w/o - winemaker Dino Taschetta's ambitious new project. A wine made without (w/o) compromise. A delicious berry and cherry-filled Sicilian red, mindfully made. Packaged in 100% recycled glass, it’s aromatic and brimming with bright fruits.

We first met Dino when he began restoring his grandfather's earthquake-struck vineyard, high in the Sicilian hills. You loved the wine it made - Tenuta Fenice. Not one to rest on his laurels, he's started another ambitious new project called w/o - wine made without compromise. He chose native Frappato as his champion, all grown organically thanks to Sicily's warm, dry climate and Dino's diligence. It's bottled in 100% recycled glass too, known as 'wild' glass, a UK first. You may notice a little variation in colour, perhaps a few tiny bubbles. All part of the charm, as is the delicious red berry and cherry fruit that greets you on the aroma and continues through on the bright, juicy palate. Try chilled solo, or with pizza or pesto pasta.

Not one to sit back, he's started another ambitious new project called w/o - wine made without compromise. He first made a Frappato red, then a crisp rosato and now this rare white. It's made from Lucido (the best clone of the Catarratto grape), all grown organically thanks to Sicily's warm, dry climate and Dino's diligence. It's bottled in 100% recycled glass too, known as 'wild' glass, a UK first. You may notice a little variation in colour, perhaps a few tiny bubbles. All part of the charm, as is the wine's herbal-scented peach fruit. Chill and sip with seafood and lighter dishes.

Description

From a family that’s been winning Golds for their wines since 1907, this is a succulent, oak-aged Shiraz with four years maturity, lending lovely depth. It’s not from the usual suspect – Australia – rather it’s from Bulgaria’s Thracian Plains.

We are longstanding fans of Yuli Yamantiev’s fruity Shiraz. Now they have made a special edition red also from Shiraz, the Grand Reserve, using the best grapes of the vintage. Yuli’s family winery has a story of persistence. Opening in the 1900s in Bulgaria’s southwest, their wines were already winning Golds in London as early as 1907. Fast forward to 1945, Russian tanks rolled in and the family lost winery and land. Years later, in the 1990s, Yuli and wife Ivana discovered another wine estate in need of repair and set about restoring it. It’s been tough, but hard work has seen success. Aged 8 months in part new French oak, it blends sweet spice with juicy blackberry, cherry notes, with a lingering chocolatey finish. Great with roast lamb.

Combining the prestigious methods used in Champagne with the citrus and floral aromatics of local grape varieties, cava is a fabulous fizz option. This is a terrific example from a winery near Barcelona – organically made and super-refreshing.



When Belgian entrepreneurs, Christopher and Christel, moved to Barcelona over a decade ago, they had one simple dream: to grow, harvest and bottle the best organic cava in the world! Together, with winemaker Joan Soler, they select grape growers whose vineyards are high up in the mountains, close to they winery. They must also practise natural, organic methods, minimising the need for sulphites, and allowing for a pure expression of Spain’s Catalunya region.

This Cava Brut is made using the classic method for sparkling wines and the region’s local grapes – Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel-lo – and ageing on lees for 12 months. An abundance of bright Granny Smith apple, citrus and floral flavours make it a refreshing fizz for any occasion.
