Sunday Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Item Code: 0559123

Description

From the New World capital of Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand’s Marlborough. This is a brilliantly fresh, tropical fruit white. Enjoy its grassy aromas and exuberant fruit.

Sunday Bay is a phenomenon. Kiwi Sauvignon is by far our most popular style, and our range is full of standout examples. So it’s a huge statement that Sunday Bay, year after year, is the one our customers rate highest and re-order most. It's made by an award-winning family winery, who were some of the first pioneers of the Marlborough region. Phil and Chris Rose founded the estate back in 1978, now their five children have joined them, so it's very much a family affair.

Their Sunday Bay is a classic Sauvignon. Exuberant grapefruit and grassy nettle character with a bright citrus zip; all the usual Marlborough pizzazz and more. It’s very moreish solo or makes the perfect partner to all sorts of seafood, spicy stir-fry or Thai fish cakes.

Low Stock The Boar Riesling 2020

The Boar Riesling 2020

Item Code: 3879420

Description

Temperatures have risen a little over the decades in Germany's top vineyards. The upside is that its dry whites have never tasted better, especially when they are from Weingut Leitz. This is a delightfully crisp, lemon and lime scented dry Riesling.

Weingut Josef Leitz is located in Rüdesheim, at the western end of the Rheingau. As the German Wine Guide notes, “Few in the Rheingau make finer wines than Leitz.” This family estate is run by Johannes Leitz, who took over what was then a 2.6 hectare property in 1985, aged just 21, and grew it to 43 hectares. It was the Rheingau that “established Germany’s reputation for world class white wines” (Hugh Johnson) and The Boar bears this out. Ironically its named after the wild boar that are far too fond of guzzling the grapes that ripen so perfectly on the south facing slopes of the vineyard. Chill down and enjoy this zesty, poised, citrusy white on its own, or with gentle dishes of grilled fish, other seafood, tangy noodles or tasty salads.

Low Stock The Rustler Chenin Blanc 2022

The Rustler Chenin Blanc 2022

Item Code: 0610922

Description

Chenin Blanc is the Cape’s signature white grape – here displayed in all its pure zingy citrus and ripe, tropical-fruit glory. Crafted by champion winemaker Gerhard Swart at an award-winning cellar, it’s a delightfully fresh, intense-flavoured white.

Although known as 'Pinotage King', multi-award-winning Cape winemaker Gerhard Swart is also extremely adept with the Chenin Blanc grape, achieving extraordinary vibrancy and crisp apple intensity. Gerhard has blazed a trail in his career, winning the coveted General Smuts Trophy in 2010, the youngest ever to do so, while Bruce Jack, who made this wine before him, called Gerhard "the best winemaker he had ever met." The wine is named after the free spirit, a Scot, Angus McLean, who deserted the British army in South Africa at the time of the Boer War and lived off the bounty of the sea, plus the odd stolen sheep, earning his nickname ‘the Rustler’. Chill down this white and enjoy as a refreshing glass solo or with chicken or spicy stir-fry.

Low Stock Tosti Moscato d'Asti 2018

Tosti Moscato d'Asti 2018

Item Code: 3759918

Description

Even if you think you’re not a fan of a medium-sweet style of fizz, this is one you must try. It’s full of refreshing bubbly charm with classic Moscato hints of rose petal and grape that makes your mouth water.

It’s a terrific glassful on its own, anytime of the day, perfect with a slice of cake (Madeira or lemon and almond perhaps) or fruity pudding. Moscato is of course the same as France’s Muscat, one of the most aromatic varieties in the world, only challenged to that title by Gewurztraminer! Asti is the finest area of Italy’s Piedmont for the style and we think this is the best we’ve tasted. It’ll bring thoughts of spring to mind whatever the time of year. Embrace the sweetness and freshness – this fizz is a delight. Chill well.
