It's from the Barbanera family estate, who have been making great-tasting wines in southern Tuscany for four generations. Today Sofia is the talented winemaker. She selected the finest Sangiovese and Merlot, then for 2-3 weeks air-dried them in a special ventilated room, just like they do for expensive Amarone wines. A gentle pressing of the grapes ensures the colour, while cool fermentation brings out the gorgeous pomegranate and red berry aromas and flavours of fresh plum and cherry. Chill it down and love it with fish, prawns, a crisp salad or solo.
