The 2019 has sorted in the cellar and aged in the finest new French oak for quality. It has the complexity and opulence of a great wine. As every year, the work carried out by the team in the vineyard and in the cellar reveals all its qualities and allows all typicity of a Grand Château La Clarière, precise and elegant, to be expressed. Year after year, the terroir of La Clarière always impresses us a little more with its ability to go beyond the external elements. It is with renewed great pride that I share with you the pleasure of discovering the 2019 vintage.
It’s been 15 years since we started making trailblazing wines in various sheds across the McLaren Vale and Barossa. Finally we’ve put down proper roots, built a new eco-friendly winery from scratch in a top spot in the Barossa and renovated eight hectares of vineyards to the highest specifications. 2018 was our first vintage and as our winery wasn’t quite ready at that time, but our main man, Alex Trescowthick, rang a few mates ’til he secured a great bit of kit to make the 2018 which has earned a 90pt from Bom Campbell.
Across the slope from Saint Emilion’s Grands Crus Châteaux Faugères and de Pressac lies little Château de Colombe. It sits on the same limestone ridge but in less fashionable Castillon. Hence this top vintage claret is both delicious and well priced.
