The world’s leading wine critics agree: Bordeaux’s 2015 vintage is one for the history books. And while big names fetch $700 or more per bottle, our Bordeaux contacts are well-placed to bring you boutique Gold-medal winners from small estates for a fraction of the price.
How are your stocks of 2015s looking? Room for a few more? Well now is definitely the time to stock up because today, you can enjoy a sumptuous Bordeaux Supérieur from Alain Labat’s 15th-century estate, Château La Haille, near the village of Pujols, for an amazing price!
Bordeaux Supérieur wines must conform to rigorous quality criteria and are made from grapes from selected parcels of densely planted, lower yielding vineyards, and older vines. They also must be aged for a minimum of 12 months in barrel, and, like the Château La Haille, are often estate-grown and estate-made.
This one is superb. Lavishly rich and layered, it’s overflowing with vibrant red fruit, delicious earthy spice, subtle floral notes and a nice minerally touch. With velvety tannins and a smooth, harmonious finish, it’s an ideal match for roasted or barbecued meats – though it is so delicious and velvety smooth that you could easily sip it on its own.
