As Hugh Johnson says, “There is a delicacy about archetypal Margaux, and a sweet, haunting perfume, that can make it the most exquisite claret of all.” L'Epiphanie de Margaux 2019 comes from a Grand Cru estate (whose Grand Vin sells for $6,000 a bottle!).
We simply cannot tell you the name of the top Margaux estate that's behind this red. The confidentiality clause is so strict that the wine was even bottled away from the château. (It’s why you won’t see Grand Cru on the label.) But what we can promise you is that, this is an exceptional wine from one of the most-prized estates in this prestigious appellation. While this is definitely not their Grand Vin, it is made from the same grapes, and by the same team. All classic ripe black fruit character, alongside cherry and plum, infused with subtle spice, cedar and tobacco. Open early and decant 2 hours before drinking. Or cellar for a few more years to maximize its potential. It will pay dividends.
