The Bourlons have been sharing their wines with us for years. In fact, theirs was the very first Bordeaux that our founder Tony Laithwaite ever sold over 50 years ago, and we have continued to sell their wines ever since. So yes, this is something very special!
From an exceptional vintage …
This silky rich and complex drop comes from the exceptional 2019 vintage, a vintage of “outstanding quality” (James Suckling), “perhaps the best I have ever tasted at this stage” (Jancis Robinson). A Gold-medal winner, with 90pts from James Suckling, it was lovingly crafted using fruit from the sought-after Saint-Émilion satellite village of Puisseguin, on Bordeaux’s famed Right Bank.

The estate’s world-class quality has soared even higher in recent years, thanks to their collaboration with renowned consultant Michel Rolland (aka Flying Winemaker; one of the most influential winemakers in the world!). The exceptional quality really shows in this lavishly rich, ripe, opulent claret. Old vines and meticulous winemaking are apparent in the trademark silky tannins that work in perfect harmony with flavours of dark hedgerow fruit, a touch of leafy complexity, and deliciously creamy oak – all on a long, smooth finish. Perfection!
