Thanks to snowmelt from the Andes and the wonders of irrigation, green and flourishing vineyards stand out in contrast to their lunar-like surroundings.
Alta Tierra is from Viña Falernia, owned by cousins Aldo Olivier and Giorgio Flessati.
They have 135 hectares of beautifully manicured vineyards and an ultra modern cellar. In 2005 their first vintage won a Trophy and put Elqui on the map.
This dazzling Sauvignon Blanc displays classic varietal character of elderflower and freshly mown grass with ripe melon and citrus fruit.
Serve as an aperitif or partner with spicy Asian dishes or fish.

Atakarma is a star from Matetic, a winery whose consistent quality has seen it listed in Wine & Spirits magazine’s Top 100 Wineries of the Year four times now.
Nestled in the Colchagua Valley, they source their fruit from across Chile's finest grape-producing valleys.
The Sauvignon for this white was harvested from the banks of the Tinguiririca river, where winds keep the grapes cool and aromatic, with a sparky freshness.
Winemaker Felipe Vial cool fermented this white, giving it a little lees ageing to lend a creamy textured edge.
With a crunch of citrus and tropical fruits, it's an ace apéritif.

An exuberant, super-fresh white from Chile's remote Elqui Valley. Brisk nights ensure the fabulous crispness of Don Aldo, which combines Pedro Ximénez and Chardonnay in this intensely aromatic, mineral-zipped white.
If you're a fan of minerally, zesty Sauvignon Blancs, then don't miss this very special offer on a prestigious Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. One delicious and refreshing sip will have you reaching for more – and more!
Why no name on the bottle? For many reasons, wineries often have a small surplus of fine wine that they can't bottle themselves, and need to find a home for quickly. When they do, they know who to call – us! We bottle it under a special 'Limited Release' label. That way, the producer's prestigious brand is protected, but our lucky customers get to enjoy a stunning wine at a fraction of the price it would normally command. It's a win-win all round!
Sometimes the producer doesn't want anyone to know who's behind the wines. Other times, (like this time!) they are happy for us to reveal their identity to our customers in our emails or on our website.
Did someone say bargain? This is a premium Sauvignon from the boutique biodynamic and organic Matetic winery in Chile. Their wines are stunning (they regularly win many awards), and if this bottle featured their name it would sell for so much more. But here's the thing! It doesn't – so it's yours at an AMAZING price for the quality.
It's worth looking out for this 'Limited Release' label! We reserve the 'Limited Release' label only for exceptional one-off parcels of wine that need rescuing. Both quality and price need to be 'knockout' impressive, and this dazzling Chilean Sauvignon fits the criteria perfectly.
Bío-Bío beautiful … All the grapes are from the cool Bío-Bío region (although the label isn't allowed to say that). Over 400 kilometres south of Santiago, it's one of Chile's most southerly wine regions. It lies close to the Bío-Bío river and receives both plentiful rainfall and early morning fog. Hence there's a real green, grassy edge and minerally freshness to this delicious white. As one of our customers say, it's very similar to a Sancerre:
"Almost Sancerre. Got a trial parcel of this wine, which arrived yesterday, tasted it last night and I'm ordering a dozen this morning. I guess that says it all! " (Customer review)
