Château de Colombe Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux 2022

Item Code: 3229222

Description

La Clarière in Castillon is the flagship vineyard. And now I am delighted to introduce you the Château de Colombe, our other Castillon estate which we bought in 2012, just across the way.

Castillon's limestone plateau is the "seamless" extension of the fabled Saint-Émilion (Oz Clarke), and these days any vineyard in the area that comes up for sale is snapped up by big Bordeaux names. They've finally latched on to the fact that little Castillon produces wines just as good as its grand neighbour! We were very lucky to get Colombe when we did, and we are excited to share its majestic wines with you. Like La Clarière, it's a silky Merlot-rich blend, and aged only briefly in oak, so it's fruitrich and supple and drinking beautifully now. It's a regular Gold-medal winner (11 Golds in the last five vintages) and is a must for any fine Bordeaux fan.

Château du Tertre Belair 2021

Item Code: 1744721

Description

It's the château's location near St-Emilion that makes this claret so special. Or the know-how of owner Bruno Dellac. Or the quality of this classic vintage. What's beyond doubt is the wine's sheer class, earthy richness and ripe fruit.

Low Stock La Chimère de La Clarière 2020

La Chimère de La Clarière 2020

Item Code: 3438020

Description

Before appellation controlée rules forbade it, blending Bordeaux with a riper style of Rhône red was common in France, right up until the 20th century.

It was nicknamed La Travail à l’Anglaise – ‘the English way’ – because its luscious style was aimed squarely at the English palate. Just recently Château Palmer revived the tradition, charging almost as much per bottle (over $2,000) as they do for their Grand Vin. And when I tasted it, I knew I had to make a La Clarière version too. Look forward to lavish La Clarière Bordeaux blended with well-ripened, top-quality Rhône Syrah, all aged in cask. A deep, dark, rich and sumptuous red full of amazing fruit and spice, there’s no better wine for Christmas!
