Hervé Sabardeil has turned his sumptuous, seductive red into a sparkling wine. The style's been a hit in Australia for years but rarely seen in France. Still sinfully delicious, this new release is heightened by the added fizz.

Home to “thunderously powerful Grenache” (Andrew Jefford). The grapes come from very old vines – between 60 and 100 years old! Yields are minute (about half of a Grand Cru Bordeaux), which accounts for the opulently black colour and incredible intensity of flavour.
The power-packed wine was then aged in oak casks to lend an even more luxurious layer of creamy rich and lavish oak complexity. This is an outstanding, weighty red that even manages to outpower the original Cabalié – it’s that deep and concentrated! It will be a truly decadent and delicious partner to your year-end parties and Chinese New Year feasts – and it will look wonderful on the table too.

Fluette is just that - a lovely fluid glass of lush, easy berry fruit that slips down wonderfully easily. At 12% it's no heavyweight. More like pure charm using Beaujolais's treasured Gamay grape. This one, however, is from SW France.
The label's also been a favourite of the papacy since 1958, when Pope John XXII blessed Cuvée du Vatican. Their gorgeously rich and spicy Réserve Côtes du Rhône is a delicious way to experience this very fine estate at an excellent price. Look forward to red berry jam, tobacco, wood smoke and wild herb complexity. Superb.

'Vertiges' translates as 'fear of heights'. Apt for a wine made from grapes gathered on precipitous slopes by Peyrepertuse Castle. 500m above sea level on a ragged Pyrenean peak, the vines produce a wine with luscious, ripe, silky flavour.
Georges Pauli and the team at Château Ramage La Batisse have won three more Golds with this delightful cru bourgeois. 2011 was a difficult vintage weatherwise, but revisiting its wines today proves how delicious they now are.
