Our Buyers have long been good friends with Javier Murúa - he makes our best-selling Rioja, Barón de Barbón. We were delighted when, a few years back, he decided to explore further afield and has set up a winery in Galicia's prized Riás Baixas region. It lies in the beautiful village of Meis, close to an ancient monastery. They work closely with 250 growers, tending 80 hectares of vines, all in the Salnés region, to obtain the highest-quality fruit.

Albariño is a top-performing variety of Spain. It produces the breezy, citrus freshness that Sauvignon drinkers adore, yet has a bit more weight, length and structure to satisfy. This wine is thoroughly delicious right now. Terrific on its own or enjoy with fish or light noodle dishes.

Austrian wines are seldom seen outside the country’s borders – which is the only reason that Grüner Veltliner, the nation’s finest white grape, is not better known. This classic example is from a small winery in Krems, a town with eight centuries of winemaking tradition. Founded in 1938 by members of the local Wine Growers Guild, it lies at the heart of the Kremstal region, where clay and limestone soils “imbue the finest Veltliners with a density all of their own” (Jancis Robinson MW).

Hand harvested, the grapes are gently pressed to extract only the most delicate flavours. A classic ‘GrüVe’ with spice and green apple fruit and a white pepper finish, Danaris is ideal with roast pork and apple sauce, grilled fish or spicy Asian cuisine.

Touraine Sauvignon has long provided an affordable yet authentic and stylish alternative to the Loire’s most famous-name wines. And the fabulously fresh wines of Patrick Vauvy are no exception. He took over his family’s estate in 1985, scrutinised every stage of production in the vineyard and cellar, and now makes some of the best wines for miles around. Just try his dazzling 2022 Sauvignon Blanc.

Thanks to Patrick's insistence on waiting until the last possible moment to harvest from his perfect chalk and clay vineyards, this super-crisp white bursts with flavour.
