Description

If you love BIG rich reds, then you’re probably very familiar with Portuguese reds. They have a wonderful richness and intensity (similar to a big Australian red) and superb flavour too, thanks to their wide range of native varieties. Wine Spectator has famously called Portugal “the most exciting wine place on the planet” and just one taste will show you why.

Today, we have a prestigious Portuguese red Baronesa De Vilar Port Finish 2018 from a very famous old wine family, available to you at a truly impressive price. Normally $1,374, this dazzling star can be yours for just $849 – an exceptional $142 a bottle – 39% off.

This gorgeous, rich Gold-medal winning Portuguese red comes from a 15th generation winemaker Alvaro van Zeller in Douro. His family have been crafting the world’s finest ports since 1715 (their Quinta do Noval 1931 was named one of the top two wines of the 20th century!)

Now Alvaro is causing a sensation with his superb table wines as well – particularly the lavish reds, like this one. Named after his grandmother, Baronesa combines the family’s two talents: sumptuous Douro reds and fine port. The best of both worlds! The critics at Gilbert & Gaillard are certainly impressed, awarding it a stellar Gold and 91pts.

Baronesa is made with Portugal’s flagship Touriga Nacional grape to create a lusciously rich and complex red. All the grapes are from the Van Zellers’ Douro vineyards, hand-picked and gently pressed to extract their deep colour and floral aromas. The magic finishing touch? The wine is matured for 12 months in the barrels that used to hold the family’s fine port. So you get extra layers of lovely spice, incredible velvety richness, superb complexity and just a touch of sweetness.

We think you will love it. We certainly do. Decant and enjoy slowly with a decadent cheese platter. Superb!

It’s wines like this that won us ‘Portuguese Wine Importer of the Year’ and ‘Portuguese Specialist Retailer’. Don’t miss your rare chance to try them here.
