When it comes to attractive, aromatic, seasonally perfect wines – Italian whites have it all. This is why today’s top find from Northern Italy, It’s too good to miss!
The ideas man
We’ve worked with Alessandro Gallici for over 20 years now – he’s the winemaker behind many of our most popular northern Italian wines and our best-selling Prosecco. For a long time he was head winemaker at a top cellar in Friuli, crafting super premium Italian wines.
Alessandro dreamed of breaking away to make a ‘Super White’ as good as top prestige names Felluga, Jermann and the like. His, however, would come at a down-to-earth price. He decided to set up on his own and we backed him all the way. His vision is a blend of the best grapes of the vintage, so the mix changes each year.
Always aromatic, with pretty fruit, the 2021 comprises Friulano, Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon, Malvasia and Chardonnay. It’s the kind of wine you find in chic Italian restaurants. Delicate aromas of pear, apple and acacia gently lure you in, before flavours of soft, juicy pear, blossom and apricot – underscored by a crisp, minerality – leave their lasting impression. It’s love at first sip.
The 2019 vintage picked up 90pts and a rare Double Gold at Gilbert & Gaillard International, and with the 2021 being such a fresh release, we expect it to do very well in the hands of show judges, wine critics and customers all over. Make sure to order a case or two today and save!
Alessandro Gallici’s vision was to craft a fine Italian white like the pricy ones you find in top spot Friuli. His, however, would be a steal. Here's his elegantly fresh masterpiece – "an aromatic mosaic" (Telegraph), all pretty peach and pear.
